Council newsletter for July/August 1996.
July 1 Council Meeting. Council accepted resignations of Brs. J.T. Lebhertz and Paul Hoffman as Warden and Outside Guard, respectively. Council accepted resignation of Br. Al Harris as Chancellor, who was then proposed and approved as Warden. PGK Bob Weedon was proposed and accepted as Chancellor. Br. Matt Meadows was proposed and approved as Outside Guard. The council approved sharing expenses with Bishop McNamara Assembly for picnic expenses, scheduled for August 31. The council was addressed by incoming District 25 Deputy Bob Jack.
RSVP PROGRAM PASSES $500 GOAL!!! - Our annual "Refund Support Vocations Program" (RSVP) has passed our $500 goal. This money will be donated to Paul Breczinski, the seminarian sponsored by our Council. Paul Breczinski was a Brother Knight in our Council before taking up his vocation. His open letter to us was included in last year's JULY/AUGUST 95 newsletter. He's completing an assignment at the Nativity of Our Lord in Timonium, MD before returning to school.

FAMILY OF THE MONTH - JULY 96 - E. ALLEN HARRIS, his wife Barbara, and their daughter Tina (17). Al is the Deputy Grand Knight, Church Activities Director, and St. Josephs Round Table Chairman for our council. He helps manage the Food Share site at St Josephs. He is also on St. Joseph's Parish Council.

AUGUST 1996
As of July 1, we have been transferred from District 18 to District 25. District 25 now consists of our council, Brute Council and St. Mary's Council in Emmittsburg, Our Lady of the Valley Council in Middletown, and Pangborn Council in Hagerstown. Our new District Deputy is Br. SK Bob Jack, whom you might remember as a Past Grand Knight of Bishop McNamara Council as well as the recent Past Grand Knight of Our Lady of the Valley Council. Thanks to Br. SK Bill Vanhorn, who was our District 18 Deputy. Many of us will see alot of Bill as the new Faithful Navigator of the Bishop McNamara 4th degree Assembly.
August 5 Council Meeting. Members approve purchase of storage shed to be located at Prospect Hall to not exceed $3000. PGK Bob Weedeon announced our car raffle booth would need to be manned from September 13 though September 21 at the Great Frederick Fair. PGK Erinie Musser, Sr. announced upcoming dates for Tootsie Roll Drive in front of K-mart, Ames, and Giant Food during October. Allen Harris reported that a corporate Mass is planned for Septemeber 29. Br. Jim Dowell reported on the success of July SHARE site.
FOOD SHARE - The next Delivery D-Days are August 24, and September 28. Time has changed to 10:30 to 11:30 am. Call Jim Dowell or Bob Weedon to help.
LADIES AUXILIARY NEWS
The Ladies Auxiliary meetings are canceled until September due to the Summer heat.

AUG 31 PICNIC - We had a perfect day for the joint Council/Assembly picnic, located at the Farmers Woods picnic ground in Petersville, MD, which had an attendance of over than 30. Thanks to Br. Ed Haynes for organizing this event and cooking.
FAMILY OF THE MONTH - AUGUST 96 - DAVE SATTERFIELD, his wife Cindy, and their children Eric (10) and Laura (7). Dave is Grand Knight of our Council and Home Corporation President. He a Eucharistic Minister at St. Johns Church and is also active in Cub Scouts. Cindy volunteers at Hillcrest Elementary School and home teaches religious education. Eric and Laura are both active in Scouting and sports.

Worthy Grand Knight's Report:
On September 16th at 7:00 pm, we will have a Mass and Officers' Installation ceremony in St. John the Evangelis Church. This beautiful ceremony is open to all family members, children, and friends. We have moved it to an earlier time in the evening to support our members with small children. It will be immediately followed by a cash all-you-can-eat buffet dinner at 8:30 at the Golden Corral Restaurant on Route 355 next to the Francis Scott Key Mall, discounted to $6.30/adult and $3.00/child. Please join us for this social event and bring a friend.
We have two important activities coming up which need manpower, manning our car raffle booth at the Great Frederick Fair on Sept 13-21 and conducting Tootsie Roll Drive collections at Ames, Kmart and other stores during October. Please step forward and do your part.

PRO-LIFE - To all Brothers who mailed in the Partial-Birth Abortion Letters provided in our last bulletin, this Council thanks you for your Pro-life action.
New Knight Exemplified - We gained a new Brother, David A. Pickert, in a 1st Degree Exemplification on September 3rd. Dave is a Major in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Ft. Detrick and attends St. Johns Church. Dave will be helping his KofC sponsor, Br. Jim Dowell, with the SHARE program.
AL HARRIS ELECTED AS DEPUTY GRAND KNIGHT - Br. Al Harris was elected on Sep 3 to fill the Deputy Grand Knight vacancy. Congratulations to Br. Al on his new position.
Our previous DGK, Br. John Raymond, regretfully resigned because he is moving to NC. John has been a great help to the Council in the past year and we will miss him.
Br. Al Harris's move up to DGK leaves a vacancy at the Warden position. Lector appointment is also vacant.
COLUMBIAN AWARD. At our September 3 council meeeting, our District Deputy announced that Bishop McNamara has earned the Columbian Award, and expects to receive it soon.
At our September 3 council meeeting, the death was announced of long time member, Br. Don Brashears (father of PGK Joe Brashears).
REV. MARVIN W ARCHULETA, SF, RETURNS AS CHAPLAIN TO COUNCIL - Fr. Archuleta is returning as Chaplain of Bishop McNamara Council. After an extended assignment in New Mexico, he now resides in Silver Spring, MD. Although he transferred to a NM Council during that time, he remained a member of the Bishop McNamara 4th deg. Assembly. Come see Fr. Archuleta at our Installation of Officers on September 16.

CHRISTMAS CARD PROGRAM - This year, we are participating in the Knights of Columbus Christmas card program by selling beautiful non-denominational religious cards. The profits will help support our Council's service activities. Enclosed you will find a color display sheet and a customer order form. List all orders by customer on the order form and turn in or mail in (with checks attached) by the November 18th Council meeting. Orders will be available for pick-up at the Dec 2nd meeting. Orders not picked-up will be delivered to the Brother's home for those living in Frederick Co. Each Br. will then distribute his card orders. Coordinator: Br. Mike Smith.
Council Meeting on September 3:
- Members approved spending up to $3,000 on an outdoor shed behind St. John's Prospect Hall. The shed will include two separate rooms, one for use by the school athletic program and one for use by our council.
New members take First Degree - On September 3, our council conferred the First Degree in our Council Home on Seventh Street. Congratulations to Brothers David A. Pickert and Joel "Zack" Reeves.
Brothers take Second Degree - On September 11, two of our Brothers were exemplified into the Second Degree of our order. Congratulations to our new Brother David A. Pickert.
On Monday evening, September 16, 1996, Bishop McNamara Council, No. 1622, conducted the Installation of Council Officers. The installation was held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 116 East Second Street, Frederick, Maryland. The affair commenced with a Mass by Rev. Marvin Archuleta, Council Chaplain, at 7:00 p.m. The installation was held immediately after the Mass and was followed by brief remarks and a receiving line. A buffet social dinner was held at approximately 8:30 pm at the Golden Corral Restaurant, located on MD Route 355 next to Francis Scott Key Mall.
Sep 13-21, 1996 KofC Car Raffle Booth at Great Frederick Fair, 9am-10pm, 4-hr sign-ups coordinated by PGK Bob Weedon. Raffle tickets were also sold after Masses on Sep 7 & 8 at St. John the Evangelist Church.

LADIES AUXILIARY DISBAND - Sadly, the Ladies Auxiliary disbanded on Sep 3rd, 1996, due to low membership. We thank all the present and past members of the Ladies Auxiliary for the efforts you've made for the Council over our many years together.
FAMILY OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER 96 - JOE BRASHEARS, and his parents Don and Mildred. Joe is the recent Past Grand Knight and is currently a Trustee for the Council. Joe lives with and takes care of his elderly parents, who have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Joe is dedicated to the blessed mother and makes beautiful rosaries. He is an Usher at St. Joseph-on-Carrollton-Manor Church.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE AT ST. JOHNS CHURCH - Brs. Bill Brown and Bill Kinsella ran a very successful membership drive at St. Johns Church on October 19 & 20. We have two new 1st degree knights initiated, one awaiting initiation, two transfers, and numerous prospects from this one drive. We call on each Brother in our Council to ask at least one Catholic gentleman to become a Knight during November. We have a 1st degree initiation scheduled for December 16.
OCT 21 - New Knights Initiated in Exemplification Honoring Fr. Paul Iaia - Our Council initiated four new Brother Knights on October 21 in a special exemplification honoring Fr. Paul P. Iaia, Past Chaplain of our Council and Pastor of St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor. Welcome to our new Brothers:

A beautiful certificate for the special degree was presented was presented to Fr. Iaia at St. Joseph's Church on October 26.
NEW TRANSFERS - We would like to welcome two transferring members, Br. Lewis L. Cox Jr. and Br. Carmine Vignola.
TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE FOR THE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED - Even with the spin off of three Councils within the last year, we were able to match last year's collection of $3,000.00. This was due to the hard work of those Brothers who stood out at area stores and after Mass to collect donations. Thanks to St. Johns Parish, who donated $700. The dedication of our tootsie roll coordinator, Br. Ernie Musser, Sr., made this all work.
FAMILY OF THE MONTH - OCTOBER 96 - GEORGE WILLIAMS, his wife Judy, and their daughter, Stephnie. George is a Past Grand Knight, our current Treasurer, and Community Activities Director. He is a director on the board of St. Johns Literary Institute at Prospect Hall and is very active in supporting the school program there. He also works diligently with our Food Share program. Judy works at and heavily supports activities at St. Johns Regional School.
At the October 7, 1996 council meeting,
- Br. Michael Smith was elected as Warden.
- PGK Richard O'Connor reported that a complete set of ceremonial robes would cost $1048. Members approved a motion to purchase a new set of ceremonial degree robes.
- PGK Bob Weedon reported on progress with car raffle, with tickets sold exceeding 1300.
- PGK Ernest Musser, Sr. reported on start of annual Tootsie Roll Drive for the Mentally Handicapped.
- PGK Joe Brashears was named family of the month.
- Br. Mike Smith reported on progress of Christmas Card sales.
- Br. Julius Peligrino reported on progress of "Keep Christ in Christmas" youth poster program.
- Br. Allen Harris reported that the annual Memorial Mass would occur on November 4, with dinner afterwards TBD.
- Br. Jim Dowell reported that last SHARE event provided 43 shares to clients, using 12 volunteer workers. Next Distribution Day will be October 26. November will have a special menu available for Thanksgiving.
- Home Corporation President Dave Satterfield reported that the St. John's Home Corporation would need to continue as a legal entity for some time after sale of our 7th Street building.
- PGK Bill Brown stated that a membership drive was planned at St. John the Evangelist Church for October 19 and 20.
- District Deputy Bob Jack discussed Maryland state activities.
- the council conducted a ceremonry to rededicate the council to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
At the October 21, 1996 council meeting,
- the 1st Degree was conferred on new members Keith A. Galloway, Robert J. Smith, John A. Mazzarese, and Robert Leedham, Jr. The degree honoree was Fr. Paul Iaia of St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Church.
- The status of our "Keep Christ in Christmas" youth poster contest was reported.
- Members approved a motion to donate funds to support shipping costs in response to a request from the Girl Scouts Clothing Drive.
- Br. Al Harris reported that dinner after the upcoming Memorial Mass will be held at the Golden Corral.
- Br. Mike Smith discussed plans for the upcoming council Christmas party.
- Br. Julius Pellegrino reported that blank posters were ready for distribution for the "Keep Christ in Christmas" youth poster contest.
- Br. Jim Dowell reported that the last SHARE distribution provided 71 shares.
- District Deputy Bob Jack discussed Maryland state activities.
- For the Chaplains report, Fr. Iaia expressed his pleasure at being back with the council.

On November 4, at 7:00pm, our Chaplain Fr. Marvin Archuleta will celebrate a joint Council/Assembly Memorial Mass at Prospect Hall. This year, we remember our deceased Council Brother Lewis B. Marman and Assembly Brother Sir Knights Joseph C. Knauer, Francis C. Lang Sr. and James L. Topper, as well as all deceased members of our order. This beautiful ceremony is open to all family members, children, and friends. It will be immediately followed by a cash all-you-can-eat buffet dinner at 8:30 at the Golden Corral Restaurant on Route 355 next to the Francis Scott Key Mall. Please join us for this important event. Fourth Degree Sir Knights should wear Tuxedo and social baldric. Others may wear suit and tie.
"KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS" POSTER CONTEST - Through the efforts of Br. Julius Pellegrino, our annual poster contest has been greatly expanded to include the religious education programs of all four of our Parishes; St. John's, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's and St. Timothy's; along with St. John's Regional school and the Visitation Academy. The Visitation Academy coordinator, who was designated after we printed the flyer, is Mary Ann Kauffman. Any child not included in the programs above can submit a poster via any Knight of our Council using the enclosed flyer by Nov 27.
STORAGE BUILDING INSTALLED AT PROSPECT HALL - The Council funded the installation of a two room, two door, storage building to St. John's Literary Institute at Prospect Hall. One room will be used by the KofC and one room by the school. Thanks to Brs. George Williams and Jim Dowell for coordinating this activity.
FAMILY OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER 1996 - JOHN MAZZARESE, his wife Jane and children Christine (13), Angela (12), Jessica (9). John has been very active with the Knights since joining this Fall. He has strongly supported St Johns Round Table activities including Church decoration and takedown for Christmas and the Bishop's reception. He is also co-chairing our basketball free throw competition. Jane sews baptismal bibs for St. Johns Church.
November 1, 1996 council meeting was cancelled due to the Nov 4 Memorial Mass.
At the November 15, 1996 council meeting,
- the Grand Knight read a thankyou note from the Girl Scouts for our donation to support their Peru clothing shipping costs.
- Members approved a motion to purchase raffle tickets benefiting St. John's Literary Institute at Prospect Hall.
- Members approved funds to provide cash awards to winners of our "Keep Christ in Christmas" youth poster contest.
- Our Insurance agent, John Burk, addressed the members.
- Br. Bill Kinsella reported on planning for the upcoming youth basketball freethrow contest.
- Br. Julius Pellegrino reported on progress with the "Keep Christ in Christmas" youth poster contest.
- Br. Jim Dowell and Br. Mike Smith reported on SHARE and Christmas card sales.
- Br. Mike Smith reported that the annual council Christmas party would be held at Prospect Hall on December 15 at 2pm, members are asked to bring a potluck plate and a newborn gift.
- Home Corporation President Dave Satterfield announce that a Home Corporation meeing was planned for December 16 to elect new board members.

At the December 2, 1996 council meeting:
- Grand Knight Dave Satterfield welcomed visiting Maryland State Council Secretary, Phillip Asplen.
- the Admissions Committee report their approval of applicant Michael E. Czarnecki.
- Members approved changing to a new liability insurance policy with Frederick Underwriters, including coverage for youth freethrow contest.
- Br. Lew Cox was elected to fill vacancy of Inside Guard.
- Br. Bill Kinsella announced that the council youth basketball free throw contest will be held on January 1 in the gym at Prospect Hall.
- Announcement that PGK Al Tavares has died.
- Grand Knight Dave Satterfield read a note of thanks from Barbara Tavares for our support after her husband's death.
- Br. Jim Dowell reported on success of most recent SHARE distribution.
ST. JOHNS ROUND TABLE DECORATES FOR BISHOP MURPHY'S AWARD RECEPTION - On Dec 8, the following brothers helped set up for the reception at St. Johns Church following Bishop Murphy's presentation of awards to church members, Jim Dowell, Tom George, Larry Lindner, John Mazzarese, Julius Pellegrino and Dave Satterfield.
ANNUAL HOME CORPORATION MTG AND ELECTIONS ON DECEMBER 16 - St. John's Council Home Corporation annual meeting and election of directors was held on December 16. The new Directors are Lew Cox (3 yr), Bill Kinsella (3 yr), John Mazzarese (3 yr). Returning directors are Dave Satterfield (2 yr), Robert Swain (2 yr), George Williams (2 yr), Joe Brashears (1 yr) and Bill Schenkel (1 yr). Ernie Musser Sr. was elected to fill the 1 yr. vacancy of John Raymond, who resigned due to his move to North Carolina. The Board of Directors will elect new officers at the Jan 21 BoD meeting. All Council members, who are automatically home corporation members, are welcome to participate (but can't vote) in BoD meetings. Thanks to the outgoing directors; Reddi Cerezo, Jim Dowell, Ernie Musser Sr. and John Raymond.
COUNCIL PRO-LIFE CHRISTMAS PARTY - We held our annual Pro-life Christmas Party at Prospect Hall on December 15, 2:00 - 4:00 pm. We enjoyed and afternoon of children's games, face painting, and a visit from Santa. Thank you to Br. Mike Smith for coordinating, Br. Dave Pickert and Pam Pickert for the games, Cindy Satterfield for the face painting, and Br. Matt Meadows for arranging Santa's visit. Each family brought a light hor d'oeuvre and a small newborn child's gift which was given to Birthright.
New Knights Initiated in Exemplification Honoring Monsignor Edward V. Echle - Our Council initiated three new Brother Knights on December 16 in a special first degree exemplification honoring Monsignor Edward V. Echle, of St. John the Evangelist Church. A certificate for the exemplification has been presented to Monsignor Echle. Welcome to our new Brothers: - Br. Robert A. Fischer, Sponsor Br. Joe Swiss - Br. Thomas F. George, Sponsor GK Dave Satterfield - Br. Christopher M. Siedor, Sponsor PGK Joe Brashears Br. Robert A. Fischer - Bob is a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy. He's a Navy Nurse in the field of education and training at Bethesda Naval Hospital. His wife, Karen, is a nurse at Hospice of Frederick County and teaches nursing at Frederick Community College. They live in Whittier and attend the Ft. Detrick Parish. Bob is the current Parish Council President. His main interest is in religious education and he hopes to eventually become a Deacon. Br. Thomas F. George - Tom is a veterinary surgeon with a practice in Hyattstown, MD. Tom is also a Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves, serving as an Asst. Professor in the Department of Clinical Surgery at the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Mary Pat, Tom's wife, is Director of Administration at Trusted Information Systems in Glenwood MD. They attend St. John's Church. CBr. hristopher M. Siedor - Chris teaches Social Studies at Prospect Hall and is also the school's Soccer Coach and mock trial coordinator. Chris served in the Army for 24 years and traveled the world. His wife, Pamela, is a graphic artist and owns her own business, Pahdisi Design. They have three children, all in college. They attend St. Peter's in Libertytown.
CHRISTMAS CARD PROGRAM - Our christmas card program was completed successfully with the cards delivered at the beginning of December. The profits will help support our Council's service activities. Thank you to our coordinator, Br. Mike Smith.
"KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS" POSTER CONTEST - Through the efforts of Br. Julius Pellegrino, our annual poster contest was greatly expanded this year to include the religious education programs of all four of our Parishes; St. John's, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's and St. Timothy's; along with St. John's Regional school and the Visitation Academy. Two hundred seventy-nine posters were received. Posters were judged after the December 2 council meeting. Each grade 1-8 grade winner was presented with a $10 check. Winners of the group categories were forwarded for further competition at the MD state level for grades 1-3, grades 4-6, and grades 7-8.
ST. JOHNS ROUND TABLE DECORATES CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS - On Dec 22 and 23, the following brothers helped put up the Christmas decorations in St. Johns Church, Reddi Cerezo, Lew Cox, Jim Dowell, Tom George, Ernie Musser Sr., Dick O'Connor, Julius Pellegrino, and Dave Satterfield. John Keepers of Holy Family Council and his son John also helped. On Jan 8, the following brothers helped take down the decorations; Br. Jim Dowell, Br. Tom George, Br. John Mazzarese, Br. Matt Meadows, GK Dave Satterfield, and Br. John Terek.
BR. ROBERT WEEDON AND REBECCA WEEDON RECEIVED BISHOP'S AWARD. Robert and Rebecca Weedon were present the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Medal of Love & Service Disciples on December 8th by Bishop Murphy. The medal was given in recognition of their many years of outstanding service to the Church. Their efforts include eucharistic ministry, volunteer driving for the ill, membership in the St. Peter Claver Society (Bob and Becky) and Catholic Daughter's (Becky). Since Bob was recovering from surgery that day, Bishop Murphy and Rev. Funk visited him at the hospital to make the award.
FAMILY OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 96 - Br. JOHN T. LEBHERZ, his wife Mary, and their children Elizabeth and Laura. John has been a strong supporter of council activities and church activities for many years. Mary is the Activity Director at a local nursing home. Their children both attend St. Johns school, and the family attends St. Johns Church.

LEW COX ELECTED AS SECOND OUTSIDE GUARD - Congratulations to Br. Lew Cox who was elected to the position of Second Outside Guard. He will be assisting the Warden, Br. Mike Smith.
BR. ROBERT WEEDON AND REBECCA WEEDON RECEIVED BISHOP'S AWARD. Robert and Rebecca Weedon were present the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Medal of Love & Service Disciples on December 8th by Bishop Murphy. The medal was given in recognition of their many years of outstanding service to the Church. Their efforts include eucharistic ministry, volunteer driving for the ill, membership in the St. Peter Claver Society (Bob and Becky) and Catholic Daughter's (Becky). Since Bob was recovering from surgery that day, Bishop Murphy and Rev. Funk visited him at the hospital to make the award.
FAMILY OF THE MONTH - JANUARY 97 - DAVE PICKERT, his wife Pamela, and their children Margaret (12), Michael (9), and Emily (2). Dave, an Air Force Major, has been very active with the Knights since joining this Fall. He has strongly supported our Tootsie Roll Drive, Food Share program, and council activities. Pamela is a school teacher.
TRANSFERS - Br. John Shiha has transferred to Council #4375 in Tecumseh OH. Br. Ed Johnson has transferred out to Our Lady of the Valley Council in Middletown, MD.

- Br. Charels Sappington resigned as Inside Guard.
- Received a letter from ARC of Frederick thanking Bishop McNAmara Council for donation of more than $2,700.
- A council corporate Mass is planned for February 9, followed by breakfast at the Golden Corral Restaurant.
- Br. Jim Dowell report that 78 food shares were distributed at the January 25 SHARE site.
- Br. Patrick Sullivan, Sr., MD State Squires Program Chairman, spoke on the need for volunteers to reestablish a Squires youth program at Bishop McNamara Council.

Council meeting, February 7, 1997:
- Family of the Month certificates were presented to Br. Joe Brashears and Br. J.T. Lebhertz.
- Thanked Br. Joe Brashears for raising more than $1000 for the council in Joe Corby pizza sales.
- Br. John Mazzarese reported on success of pur annual youth basketball freethrow contest, thanking all who helped.
- District Deputy Bob Jack presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Leukemia Society.

- Trustees reported a regular audit was conduccted.
- Financial Secretary reported that incoming dues and RSVP program (for seminarians) are doing well.
- PGK Ernest Musser conducted a council vote for "Family of the Year" award. PGK Joe Brashears and his family were selected.
- Members approved a motion to buy five new ceremonial robes.
- Volunteers will be needed to help decorate St. John's Church on Holy Saturday.
- AUIP Certificate from the Supreme Council presented to PGK Joe Brashears.
- "Family of the Month" certificate awarded to Br. Dave Pickert.
- Br. Al Harris report that recent Corporate Mass and breakfast went very well. Fr. Kevin Farmer gave a glowing praise to the Knights during the Mass.

- PGK Bill Brown announced Bishop McNamara's upcoming annual "Oldtimer's Dinner", which is open to all Knights of any degree and their families.

- PGK Ernest Musser, Sr., announced that the March "Family of the Month" award goes to the Lewis Cox family.

Council meeting of May 5, 1997:
- The membership application for Paul Zambito was read and approved.
- Members approved a motion by Br. John Mazarese for funds to install shelves in the storage building at Prospect Hall.
- Insurance representative John Burk reported that Bishop McNamara Council is likely to qualify for the Star Council award.
- Br. Bill Kinsella recieved the "Family of the Month" award for May.
- A pancake breakfast fundraiser is planned for June 8.
- A council picnic is planned for June 28.
- Members approved motion to reimburse the Grand Knight and delegate for convention expenses. PGK George Williams discussed follow on installation of similar shelves in the shed room used by the school.
- Br. Jim Dowell reported that next SHARE distribution day will be May 31.
- We have 16 people signed up to serve as Preakness ushers. Group will meet at Prospect Hall on Saturday morning.

- Application for membership from Thomas Gargan II was read and approved. Application for transfer into council for Thomas Defibaugh from council in Franconia VA was read and approved.
- Brs. Gordon Smith and Paul Zambito were congratulated for their 3rd degree exemplification.
- Members approved motions for cash awards to graduating male students approved. Awards will be handled by Br. John Mazzarese.
- District Deputy thanks our 1st degree team for conducting an expemlification for Mt. Lady of Carmel Council.

- PGK Ernest Musser Sr reported we had a total of 21 volunteers for the Preakness Ushering, 19 from Bishop McNamara Council and two from Middletown.

- Monsignor Edward Vincent Eccle died on May 16, 1997. Knights have been asked to participate in his funeral service and furnish an escort to Baltimore interment site.
- District 25 Deputy Bob Jack passed on thanks to our 1st degree team from the Our Lady of Mount Carmel County in Thurmont for provide them a degree ceremony.

- Installation of Officers ceremony is planned for July 7, 1977 at 7pm at S. John the Evangelist Church. Dinner will follow at the Golden Corral.

THANK YOU BR. GORDON SMITH - for building window inserts for the Prospect Hall Library. These inserts were used at our First Degree Exemplification on June 22nd to prevent viewing of the ceremony from outside. They will continue to be invaluable for future degree ceremonies.
