In the 2004-2005 Fraternal Year, Bishop McNamara Council No. 1622 was in MD State District 2. District 2 also included St. Michael's of Poplar Springs Council #10525 in Mount Airy, Archbishop John Carroll Council #11715 in Brunswick, St. Ignatius of Loyola Council #11815 in Ijamsville, and St. Peter the Apostle Council in Libertytown, MD. Our District 2 Deputy was Br. Gary R. Armbruster and our District Warden was Br. Greg Lattus.
Council 1622 volunteers provided two Knights every Saturday night throughout the year to support a Bingo fundraiser run in the school gym by St. John's Literary Institute at Prospect Hall (SJPH). Coordinator: Br. David Satterfield.
Council 1622 volunteers supported a monthly SHARE food co-operative on a Saturday morning in Frederick, MD. Coordinator: Br. D. James "Jim" Dowell.

July 6, 2004 Council Social Meeting
- Thank you note from Seminarian Joe Luras for our RSVP financial support.
- Br. John Fox reported that the golf tourney made $2200. Thanks Wayne Phipps of Quinos, Chuck Teal, Frank Kennedy, Gene Hickman, and Joel Tootill.
July 18, 2004 - Installation of Officers was conducted at St. John the Evangelist Church. Exemplifying officials were District Deputy Gary Armbruster and District Warden Greg Lattus. A reception was held following the installation. Guests included MD State Deputy Degar Haynes, a Past Grand Knight of our council.

August 2, 2004 Council Social Meeting -SJPH 7:30 PM
- Applications approved for two membership applications, Dennis E. Strother and Anthony Neglia.
- Received a thank you note from Mr. Robert Fersula of the St. Vincent De Paul Society for our recent donation.
- The council will have a car raffle both at the Great Frederick Fair in September.
- The council will conduct a family picnic on September 11, same venue as last year.
- The golf tourney profit was $2200.00.
- Membership team complete, Br. Reddi Cerezzo at St. John's Church and Br. Bud Foss at St. Catharine Dexel Church.
- A Boy Scout asked for financial support for his Eagle project.
- Br. Dino Scaletti: The next monthly GK Chapter meeting will be held on Aug 24, 8pm, in the SJPH gym.
- A 2nd Degree will be held on Sept 14 at 7pm.
- A First Degree Exemplification was conducted after the meeting. The First Degree was conferred on Br. Craig McGraw (Council 10525), Br. John Grillo (Council 10525), Br. John Hughes (St. Peter's Council), and Br. Dennis E. Strother (Council 1622).
- Rev. Leo Tittler offered prayers at the beginning and end.
August 16, 2004 Council Business Meeting - SJPH 7:30 PM
- Received a certificate of appreciation from the MD State Council for our support of the Leukemia fundraiser.
- Council financial audit has been completed.
- Car raffle is underway. Renn Kirby Frederick Auto is providing a free display car for our use.
- Council picnic will be held on Sep 11.
- Council 1622 annual budget approved.
- A Boy Scout spoke of his Eagle project to paint SJPH school trailers.

Monday, September 7, 2004 - Council Social Meeting - SJPH 7:30pm
- Received a thank you letter from Dr. Ray Rother, PHD, Catholic Charities of Frederick County.
- Council-paid advertisement for the MD State Council Columbus Day Ball was submitted.
- A 2nd Degree Exemplification will be conducted on September 14 at SJPH.
- Family of the Month for July 2004 was awarded to Br. Bill Wierzbicky.
- Volunteers are needed for the St. John's Church Ministry Fair take down.
- Car Raffle booth at the Great Frederick Fair will be setup on September 16.
- Youth, the "Heep Christ in Christmas" poster contest will be run by Br. Bob Ordonio.
- There will be an Admissions Committee metting on September 13.
- The Leukemia Drive will be on Oct 8, 2004.
- The next Grand Knight's Chapter meeting will be on September 28.
- SHARE Food co-op distribution will be on 25 September in the basement of the Frederick Church of Christ, 1305 North Market Street, Frederick, MD.
- The St. John's Home Corporation will hold a scholarship meeting on September 10 with the Community Foundation of Frederick County.
- The St. John's Home Corporation is buying a corner for a fundraiser for the new St. John's Regional School building.
- Council charity fund payments were made to Advocates for the Homeless, Birthright, Catholic Charities, and the Elizabeth Ministries.
- Rev. Leo Tittler offered prayers at the beginning and end.
September 20, 2004 - Council Business Meeting at SJPH
- Applications for membership were approved for Tony Neglia (from New York, NY) and Michael J. Suray (St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor Chruch).
- A Membership Blitz weekend will be held after Masses on Oct 16-17. We need to get permission from Fr. Keith Boivert for St. Katharine Drexel Church. A sign up sheet is located at the head table for volunteers at St. John's Chruch. Seven men have already agreed to attend an admissions committee meeting.
- Received a thank you note from the Community Foundation of Frederick County for our donation of $30,000 to the Fr. Michel J. McGivney Scholarship Fund. We met with CFFC to discuss the fund agreement.
- Received a thank you note from Ms. Barbara Simpson at Birthright for our support.
- Out annual memorial Msss will be in the 2nd week of November, and will be held jointly with the Catholic Daughters. A pot-luck dinner will be shared afterwards.
- Two bingo volunteers needed.
- Sold car raffle tickets must be turned in by October 4.
- Grand Knight - We can increase the annual disbursement for our Fr. Michael J. McGivney Scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of Frederick County without reducing the principal. We need to coordinate this with Friends of Catholic Education, who select recipients and award the funds. Members are encouraged to donate to this fund.
- Payment was made for a cornerstone for the new St. John's Regional School building.
- Help is needed to tear down the parish ministry fair.
- Annual Tootsie Roll Drive is coming up. Considering cancelling booth at the Great Frederick Fair next year due to increased fee.
- The next Grand Knight's Chapter meeting will be held on Oct 28 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
- The District Deputy finished a standard review of our books.

OCTOBER 2004 TOOTSIE ROLL MONTH
October 4, 2004 Council Social Meeting.
- Opening prayer was lead by Chaplain Fr. Leo Tittler.
- Sold car raffle tickets are need before Saturday.
- Council memorial Mass will be conducted with the Catholic Daughters and with Bishop McNamara Assembly 384. It will start at 7:30pm on the 2nd Friday of November. Contact Br. Dave Satterfeild to submit names for prayer of remembrance.
- District Deputy reported that a 1st degree will occur at St. Ignatius on Nov 8, and a 2nd degree on Nov 11 at St. Ignatius.
- Br. Richard O'Connor submitted a list of proposed charity disbursements recommended by the Charity Committee.
- "Light the Night" Leukemia Walk is coming up. Volunteers needed.
- Oct 26 - next Grand Knight's Chapter meeting in Libertytown.
- After the meeting, a First Degree Exemplification was held and the First Degree was given to Br. Michael W. Long, Br. Anthony Neglia, and Br. Michael J. Suray, all members of Council 1622.
October 18, 2004 - Council Business Meeting.
- Opening and closing prayers offered by Chaplain Rev. Leo Tittler.
- Br. James "Jim" McSherry died on 12 Oct 2004.
- Br. Dick O'Connor is coordinating with Friends of Catholic Education for awarding our Fr. McGivney scholarship to a local student. This fund has been created at Cummunity Foundation of Frederick County by our Council.
- Thank you to those who volunteered to work at the Light the Night Leukemia Walk fundraiser in Frederick.
- SHARE disribution will be this Saturday at 1305 N. Market St.
- Charity donations, $200 to the Frederick Food Bank and $200 to the Heartly House.
- Tootsie Roll Drive sign up list is on table.
- Our annual Memorial Mass will be held on Nov 12, and will include our Council, Bishop McNamara 4th Degree Assembly and the Catholic Daughters. Contact Br. Dave Satterfield to add names to the remembrance list.

November 1, 2004 - Council Social Meeting -
- Opening and closing prayers offered by Chaplain Rev. Leo Tittler.
- Thr Admissions Committee will meet with new candidates on Nov 8 at 7pm at Prospect Hall, vote by council expected on Nob 15. Plan to reserve Propect Hall basketball court to conduct the degree.
- Our annual Memorial Mass will be held on Nov 12, and will include our Council, Bishop McNamara 4th Degree Assembly and the Catholic Daughters. Contact Br. Dave Satterfield to add names to the remembrance list. There will be a pot-luck dinner after Mass. Br. Dave Wilson is arranging for food donations by restaurants again.
- Council is running a raffle to purchase a snow blower for PGK Edgar Haynes.
- Br. Richard Sherbert will be here at Nov 15 meeting to present our Star Council Award.
- Second meeting in December is cancelled.
- Council Chrismas party will be held on Dec 12, beginning at 3pm, dinner at 4pm. Unwrapped gifts requested for Birthright of Frederick. A charity raffle will be held.
- $1371.71 collected so far by our Council for the Tootsie Roll campaign. Next collection will be conducted at St. Katharine Drexel parish.
- "Keep Christ in Christmas" Youth Poster Contest dealine for submission is Nov 19. Judging help is needed by Br. Bob Ordonio on Nov 20.
- The Grand Knight's Chapter is hosting a "Way off Broadway" Dinner Theatre Christmas party on Dec 4. This is open to all Knights and families.

Mass was co-celebrated by Rev. Wayne Funk, Rev. Leo Tittler, and Rev Martin Feild.
- A Social dinner followed in the church hall.
- Assisting were Cantor Br. Eric Phillips; Pianist Laura Satterfield; Altar Servers Katie Czarnecki and Taylor Huntington; Lector Ruth Dredden, the Bishop McNamara Assembly 384 Color Corps, and Br. Dave Wilson and the Catholic Daughters who coordinated the dinner.

Monday, December 6, 2004 - Council Social Meeting.
- Br. Bob Ordonio, coordinator of our "Keep Christ in Christmas" youth poster contest, thanks to Br. Dave Saterfield for help with Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest.
- Youth basketball free throw competition will be held on l6 January 2005. Contact Br. Bob Ordonio.
- District 2 is conducting a raffle of a snow blower as a fundraiser. Drawing will be on December 18.
- A youth basketball freethrow competition will be conducted on January 16, 2005. Coordinator: Br. Bob Ordonio.
- Br. Mike Gilson proposes $200 for respect life committee, approved. Money will assist in expenses for attending Right to Life March in Washington D.c. on Jan 24.
- Family of the month for September 2004 was awarded to Br. Nick Gabriel.
- Br. Dave Satterfield requests responses for upcoming council family Christmas party which will be held on December 12 at his house. Pot luck sides of salads and desserts are requested. Please bring a wrapped infant gift for birthright. Fr. Leo Tittler will read the nativity to the kids.
- A first degree exemplification was conducted. New council members included Christoper W Costlow, Thomas E. Dumm, John T. Mattis, John J. Sabatano, and James J. Shabelski. Thank you to Br. Dick Tymoch and Br. Bill Kinsella for assisting on the degree team.
- SHARE food distribution will be conducted on Dec 18. One hundred shares have be signed up for so far, so a good team is required to sort food. SHARE location is 1305 North MArket Street, Frederick, MD.
- Ten to twelve volunteers are needed to help decorate St. John the Evangelist Church for Christmas on Dec 22 at 5pm.
- First and second degree exemplifications will be conducted at St. Michaels of Poplar Springs Church on January 15 beginning at 2 pm. A thrid degree exemplification will be conducted at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church on January 28 at 7:30pm.
Monday, December 24, 2004 - Council Christmas party at the Dave and Cindy Satterfield residence. Infant supplies gifts were accepted for Birthright of Frederick as part of our Right to Life commitment. See photos.

JANUARY 2005
Monday, January 3, 2005 Council Social Meeting in SJPH library
- GK Dave Zakrzwski stated that Br. Bill Wiersbicky has brought in eleven new members.
- A 1st and 2nd degree exemplification will be held at St. Michaels of Poplar Springs on Jan 15. A 3rd degree exemplification will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Chruch on Jan 28.
- A first degree exemplification will be held at Prospect Hall on February 7. Our first degree team will conduct a practive on January 31.
- Br. Dave Satterfield reports that our Bingo team which support St. Johns Literary Institute at Prospect Hall needs additional volunteers. Two men are needed each week.
- Volunteers needed for Christmas decoration takedown at St. John the Evangelist Chruch on January 10.
- The Financial Secretary reported that $20,000.00 hd been distributed from the 2004 Golf Outing, equally to five local Cathlc Schools, St. John Rejional Catholic School, St. John's Literary Institute at Prospect Hall, Visitation Academy, St. Thomas More Academy, and the Mother Seton School.
- PGK Dave Satterfield has resigned as treasurer. An election will be held on the 2nd meeting in February.
- Br. Bill Kinsella, Br. Dave Satterfield and Br. Mike Czarnecki have been appointed to the nominating committee for elections for the 2005-2006 Fraternal Year.
- Our 3rd Annual Open Golf Outing is planned for June 21, 2005. Coordinator: Br. John Fox.
- Share - Br. Jim Dowell is steping down as coordinator for our monthly SHARE food co-operative. A new coordinator is needed.
- The final tally for our Fall 2004 Tootsie Roll Drive for the Intellectually Challenged was $2,134.50.
- Volunteers needed to assiste with our upcoming youth basketball freethrow competition on Jan 16 at 6pm at the gym at St. John's Literary Institue at Prospect Hall. Contact coordinator Br. Bob Ordonio.
- Over 500 youth participated in our December 2004 "Keep Christ in Christmas" poster contest.
- SK Bill Kinsella made a recruiting presentation for joining the Fourth Degree with Bishop McNamara Assembly No. 384, in Frederick, MD. The assembly meets on the first Wednesday of every month. A 4th degree exemplification will be conducted on April 9, 2005.
- A SEAS Grand Knight's Chapter meeting will be held at St. Mary's Church in Petersville on the 4th Tuesday of this month.
January 10, 2005 - Take down of decorations of St. John the Evangelist Church from Christmas.

January 17, 2005 - Council Business Meeting at Prospect Hall.
- Vote was held and approved for three new candidates; Robert J. Schaefer, Tracy Hivkman, and Eric Waldt.
- Congratulations to members who took their 2nd degree on Jan 15, including Br. Michael W, Long, Br. John J. Sabatano, and Br. James J. Shabelski, Sr.
- Volunteers for the youth basketball freethrow competition held on January 16 at Prospect Hall included Br. Bob Ordonio, Br. Jeff Balistere, Br. John Sabatano, and Br. Dave Satterfield. Eighteen youths competed. The district competition will be held on Feb 22, and the state competion on Feb 27.
- Volunteers will be needed on Holy Saturday to set up for Easter at St. John the Evangelist Church.
- Br. Dave Vernot has been nominated for the vacant position of treasurer.
- Br. John Fox proposed moving money from the St. Johns Home Corporation bank account into a portfolio account. 2nd by Br. Bill Wierzbicky. Vote to close out home corporation account into a council money market fund, approved. Discussion held regarding donating these $13,800 in funds to a charity, vice spending by the council.
- A fish fry committee meeting will be held on Friday. Shirts are in for fish fry workers. A raffle will be conducted during the fish fry. Volunteers will be needed.

FEBRUARY 2005
February 7, 2005 - Council Social Meeting - SJPH 7:30pm.
- A first degree exemplification was conducted. New members are Br. Eric F. Waldt, Br. Tracy M. Hickman, and Br. Robert J. Schiefer.
- Congratulations to Br. Thomas Dumm and Br. Donald I. Rohr, who took their 2nd degree on Jan 28. Congratulations to members who took their third degree on Jan 28: including Thomas E. Dumm, Michael W. Long, Elias Munoz, Jr., Anthony Negia, Donald I. Rohr, John J. Sabatano, James j. Shabelski, Sr., and Michael J. Suray.
- An admissions committee meeting will be held on March 14.
- Fish frys will be held in the cafeteria of Prospect Hall beginning February 11, 2005, 5-7 pm, and will continue every Friday for six weeks. Sign up sheet for volunteers is on the council website. Coordinator: Br. Dave Satterfield. Kichen lead is Br. Eric Phillips.
- A special election for the treasurer vacancy will be held on Feb. 21.
- Fr. Leo Tittler's upcoming retirement has been announced by the Baltimore Diocese.
- A family picnic will be held on Sep 10, 2005, same venue as last year.
- Volunteers needed on Holy Saturday, March 26, 2005, to decorate St. John the Evangelist Church for Easter.
- Br. John Fox discussed the upcoming Open Golf Outing fundraiser. It will be held on Monday, June 20, same place as last year. Coffee and donuts have already been donated. Corporate sponsors are still needed. Profit will be donated to local Catholic schools.
- A 3rd degree exemplification will be conducted at Pangborn Council in Hagerstown, March 12.

February 11, 2005, 5-8pm - first of six Friday Lenten Fish Fries held in the basement cafeteria of St. John's Literary Institute at Prospect Hall.
Monday, February 21, 2005 - Council Business Meeting - SJPH 7:30pm.
- The Admissions Committee meeting conducted on March 14 reports that they have five applications ready for vote. All five applicants voted on and approved.
- Transfer application for Br.Nelson Devone from ST. Katharine Drexel Church voted on and approved. (Note: Br. Devone was never added to our council roster, reason unknown).
- Thank you letter read from Jody Hammond, Frederick County Right to Life.
- Br. Bill Kinsella reports that a first degree will occur here on April 4. A 2nd degree will occur on April 19.
- Nominating committee for election of officers for the 2005-2006 Fraternal Year reports that the proposed slate of officers will be submitted on April 18. Elections will be conducted on May 16, one month after the proposed slate is submitted.
- Election was held to fill Treasure vacancy. Br. Dave Vernot was elected.
- Council advertisements have been prepared for the 4th degree booklet and the MD State Council convention booklet. Twenty-five dollars was donated for Stae convention ladies activities.
- KofC nsurance representative, Chuck Teal, addressed the members.
- Br. Jim Dowell needs help managing ourmonthly SHARE food cooperative site in Frederick.
- The Bishop McNamara 4th Degree Assembly No. 384 will hold their annual old-timers appreciation dinner on March 30 at the Cozy Restaurant, Thurmont, MD. All KofC members and spouces are welcome. Cost: $16/meal.
- GK Chapter meeting will be held on Feb 22 at Mount St. Mary's University.
- GK discussed proposed changes to our council annual budget.
- Br. Bill Kinsella proposed $50 to purchase new kitchen equipment for seminarians at Mount St. Mary's.

MARCH 2005
March 7, 2005 - Council Social Meeting - SJPH Library.
- The Admissions Committee will meet at Prospect Hall on March 14.
- Three transfer applications were read, voted on, and approved: Br. Michael P. Farran who had joined the Knights in 2003, Br. James M. Schneck who had joined the Knights in 2001, and Br. Ian S. Spiers who had joined the Knights in 2002.
- GK states that a visitor, Beate Frankle, from ARC of Frederick will be at the March 21 meeting.
- Volunteers needed to help decorate St. John the Evangelist Church on Holy Saturday for Easter.
- Preakness Ushering fundraiser on May 21. Volunteers needed. We are paid $60 per volunteer, light lunch provided. Contact Br. Bud Foss.
- A local Irish river dance group will perform in the SJOH gym during our fish fry on March 11.

March 21, 2005 - Council Business Meeting. 7:30P.M. at SJPH Library
- Admissions committe met on March 14. They have seven membership applications for approval. The next Admissions Committee meeting will be on May 9. A membership drive will be after Masses at St. John the Evangelist Church and St. Katharine Drexel Church on April 16 and 17, volunteers needed.

- Received thank you from Interfaith Housing for donation.
- Family picnic will be held on Sep 10 at Ft. Detrick.
- Sue Swiss, business manager of St. John the Evangelist Chruch, advides that St. John's Council No. 1622 might be able to move into the old school building at 114 E. 2nd Street when SJRCS moves out on Sep 9. Member consideration was invited.
- SEAS GK Chapter meeting in Taneytown tomorrow night.
- A square dance is planned for Jun 10, 8-11 pm, cost $6 per person.

- Catholic Daughters are seeking 2-3 volunteers to help with set-up/takedown for their card night at St. John Regional Catholic School on April 28.

June 6, 2005 - Council Social Meeting
- A first degree exemplification was conducted. The first degree was conferred on new Knights, Br. Mark Maradei and Br. Salvatore M. "Mike" Cremona.
- Br. Foss reported that we had 26 peoplework as Preakness ushers. Gross income was $1560.
- Br. Fox reported that our major golf sponsors include Quiznos, the Redhorse Restaurant, Gladchuck Bros. Restaurant, and Frank Kennegy (MOM group).
- The district Deputy reported that a 1st degree will be held on July 18 and a first degree on June 9 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Council.
- The SEAS Chapter will sponsor a square dance this Fridey, june 10, at 8pm, $6 per person.
- The council received recruitment participation awards at the convention of Br. Bill Wierzbicky and Br. Bill Kinsella. Our Council was 3rd place in MD State for recruiting for this year, bringing in 21 new members since July 2004. The Council was in 2nd place for insurance, achieving 200% of our goal identified by the Supreme Council.
- Joel Tootill, Bishop McNamara Assembly will participate in a Flag Day ceremony on June 14, 7pm, at the Memorial Park in Frederick.
June 20, 2005 - Council Business Meeting
- Meeting called to order by DGK Mike Czarnecki.
- Twenty-two new members were added during that last 2004-2005 Fraternal Year.
- Summer picnic planned for September 10 at Fort Detrick. Br. Bernie Litchfied, Sr. will be in charge of cooking.
- Proposal by Br. Michael Harrison, 2nd by Br. Dick O'Connor, to make donation to Frederick County Right to Life. Amended motion by Br. Bill Kinsella, 2nd by Br. Bill Wierzbicky to donate $100. Motion passed.
- Additional members are need for the council degree team.
- A SEAS Grand Knight Chapter meeting will be held on July 1, 8pm, at St. Ignatius Chruch.
- The annual budget will be ready for council approval at first meeting on July 5.
- Charity expense vouchers: $25 for Leukemia Foundation.
